This store is a testament to Didaskalou's philosophy. It's an expansion and a complete redesign, transforming from a cozy 80 square meters to a spacious 250-square-meter haven. Didaskalou and his team have poured their hearts into this project, and it shows.

Didaskalou has surrounded himself with talented individuals, including architect Ana Ćalić McLean and builder Nick Karas. His approach to hiring is refreshing; he seeks out people who are smarter than him and gives them the freedom to shine. Ćalić McLean's task was to create a new design language, drawing inspiration from July's previous stores. She introduced unique materials, like natural stone and marble, molded into organic shapes, adding a soft and inviting touch to the space.

As you move towards the middle, the palette brightens, evoking the golden light of summer. It's a playful contrast, inviting customers to explore and discover. At the heart of the store, a pair of walnut burr seats beckon visitors to take a break and rest, almost like a hidden oasis.
The final chamber showcases July's expanding range of soft bags and leather accessories, set against a deep forest green backdrop and mint-tiled walls. It's a visual treat, with a recessed window offering a glimpse of the bustling city outside.
A Story of Migration and Travel
The store's ceiling frescos, created by artist George Raftopoulos, tell a powerful story of migration and travel. Didaskalou explains that Raftopoulos wanted to emphasize the shared experience of being an immigrant and having a unique story to tell. A simple yet profound statement, "never a tourist, but always a traveler," is handwritten on one of the frescos, adding a personal touch to the overall design.
The Future of July
With the QV store representing the end of an era in Australia, July is now setting its sights on Asia and, eventually, the US. Didaskalou sees this expansion as a test of the brand's strength, a challenge to sell quality products in a physical retail space where customers can scrutinize every detail.
"It's all about the risk," Didaskalou says. "This is the last cool thing I'll do in my life. Why not go for gold?"
